My usage is also similar - I rarely use over 1/250 unless I have fast
film loaded and go outdoors. My understanding is that the 1/4000 and
1/8000 speeds are a side effect of the search for faster sync speeds,
not the primary design goal. I would love to get a 1/250 sync speed,
for outdoor fill flash, etc, but I know that I would probably never
use the 1/8000 speed that comes with the design.
