I own the 24/2.0 and had previously owned the 24/2.8.  I found them to be
very  similar in terms of optical performance.  However, there may be
coating differences depending on the ages of the lenses that could cause
differences in flare.

This is one area where there haven't been a lot of third party lenses -
there have been 28s and 24s from at least Tamron and Vivitar, but they are
getting hard to find due to age.

Lens choice is quite personal and you may want to borrow lenses for testing
in the appropriate range.  After years of accumulating lenses from 17mm to
500mm, I find that I do 950f my shooting at 35-50mm (and medium format
equivalents.)  It does help, when shooting interior architecture, to have a
wide lens, and it is easier to crop than to get farther away at times, so
the 24mm might be more useful than the 28mm if you are shooting interiors.
