Jim,
I don't have the curve that you refered to, but the Shipman87 book gives
this chart for the F280 flash working distance vs shutter speed.
Shutter speed      working distance (this refers to OM77AF f1.8, ASA100)
100                     13   (feet)
125                     9.3     
250                     6.3
500                     5.3
1000                    3.7
2000                    2.7
*flash only, ambient light extends distance
Although this chart was done with the OM77AF, I think that the data is
totally indicative of the characteristics of the flash unit.
