I did follow your help mail ..re: removing the floor of the mirror box
and I seen the gold plated switches they looked very clean.However I
watched the movement as I took a snap and this is what happend.1/   When
the mirror returns as normal .....a small black cylinder shape part 3mm
high moves to the right causing one gold contact to touch another,this
process happens in reverse as the mirror returns to it's possition.

BUT


2/ When the mirror locks up....the first part of the process takes place
as normal ..ie the black cylinder moves to the right causing two gold
contacts to touch...BUT stops right there and does not return and so the
mirror stays up.

Putting the top leaver to reset/check drops the mirror back as does
setting the shutter ring to B.

all of the above is a front view.

I would be interested in your comments on this John.
