Herbert Keppler of Popular Photography liked this lens, but the f/4 RMC is
supposedly better. Incidently, neither of my 28-85mm AT-Xs have developed
the dreaded Tokina element separation. This is an extremely complex lens
mechanically (though not as bad as the 28-135 AT-X) so you could have had a
damaged one.

Check the diaphragm operation carefully with this model as they often have
problems. This is no lightweight! I just picked up a 28-210mm f3.8-5.6
Kiron, and it is not much larger. I think Gary missed my brag that I paid
$35 for same. NAI mount unfortunately.

No, Herbert Keppler does. I have not been able to find one.

I have two of these heavy beasts. The 35-80mm SP is a super lens. I lost
count, but I think I still have three of them.
