Unfortunately, the MD caps for the OM4 etc do not fit the built-in
storage location in the winder. Oly has supplied me with a
"just-in-case" replacement gratis some years ago. I keep it inside a
mated body cap/rear lens cap pair which I always carry with me --
again, just in case.

No - they ship them with MD caps, and
yes - they are different.
The MD cap for the OM-4, 4Ti, 3 & 3Ti are the same as, and
interchangeable with, the battery cap for those cameras - very handy!
