To be sure the meter is working,  make sure battery is good, open lens to 1.8,
set shutter speed to 30, point at light, turn switch to "on". Don't confuse 
meter
operation with setting shutter speed dial to B and lens to 1.8.  Even OM-1s with
dead meters will show needle movement at this setting (with the switch "off").
