Given the cost of the equipment and its inherent, intrinsic value the
better quality the hard case the better (latches, hinges, density of
foam, water resistance etc).  Several thousand $ of equipment deserves a
good safe home.  Pelican is a great choice for this and it is even
waterproof.  I have used a small one when I go diving to store ans
protect my OM2.  It even went over the side and the camera was kept
dry.  At that point the case was "paid for". The colour I would suggest
be a bright one as it will be more reflective as well as more visible,
just incase someone wants it more than you (stolen).  It will not be
lost in the crowd at the airport if is a bright colour.
Just some thoughts.
