OK, while waiting for a good guy to send me a mercury battery, I went out
and bought one of the Wein zinc/air batteries. Not as good as the real
thing since they die pretty quick, but they work :)

Anyway, the meter in my spanking like new old OM-1 was acting weird. Since
I was able to set what looked like what the meter thought was a good
exposure - even though it would have been vastly over exposed - I thought
that there was a battery in it, just tired. I was worried by the idea that
the meter didn't drop to the bottom of the scale when I turned the meter off.

Well, I got home today with my battery, opened the compartment and hey,
there's no battery in here. I wonder how the meter was even trying to work
in the first place? Wish I had a schematic of the meter circuit...

Anyway, with the battery in, everything seems to work just dandy. A really
nice little piece of machinery. I am escpecially impressed by the
viewfinder - very clean and bright. I have a 50mm f1.8 Zuiko on it, but a
local shop has what looks like a like-new 50mm f1.4 for $60US. Tempting.

Thank you all for your assistance. I think I'm going to have fun with this
little guy.
