Jim,
  I have a fairly extensive array of older Oly OM brouchures and other
documentation.  I have searched them very thourghly and cannot find 
any mention of the Olympus Flash Extender.  I therefore understand your
confusion.  I have only piece of information that clears it up for me,
I have one of the Flash Extenders and every once in a whild I get it out
and verify that it does indeed say Olympus right on the side of it.
