I consider mirror lock-up essential whenever I use my 50-250 because the
weight and length of that lens seems to amplify all vibrations, not just those
induced by the mirror.  In fact, I would attribute this vibration to the lack
of quality some have experienced with this lens.   I myself was unenamored
with it until I started using the lock-up with discipline.   Now, I feel it is
a very sharp lens, sharper than most other good zooms (sharper than a vivitar
70-210 2.8-4.0 series 1 at 180mm, 'cus I tested it) when used with the lock-
up.
