[OM] TTL macro flash problems with OM4Ti

Subject: [OM] TTL macro flash problems with OM4Ti

I'm writing for a friend here at work who has just purchased a new
OM4Ti. He seems to have a big problem with TTL macro flash.

He is using a 50 F3.5 macro on auto extension tube, with a T10 ring
flash, TTL, 50ASA Velvia, to photograph insects. He has done this before
successfully at apertures down to F22 with OK exposure with an OM2N,
everything else the same.

His OM4Ti blinks "underexposure" and indeed the shots are under-exposed
until he opens up to about F8.

This thread was discussed earlier in the year. Can anyone shed any light
on this? Is the OM4Ti less capable of handling TTL flash at this range
than the OM2N?? Is there another reason?

I would really appreciate any help with this. He intended to use this
setup for an important paid job soon, so he would urgently like to find
out what the story is.

Would anyone know how to contact Olympus in Japan to find a definitive
answer to this from one of their techs?

Thanks in advance.
