I have been to the Big Bend National Park many times, but it has been over
20 years ago. Be sure to take the river road to Presidio. Some of the best
sights require considerable hiking. I walked way back in the sticks on one
trail, and they had a register to sign for the brave souls that made the
walk. The person before me turned out to be a coworker. Small world. I have
been in Texas all my life, but the hottest I have ever been was on the Rio
Grande River in the park during the summer. If you use slides, some film
doesn't work well with all the rocks. I personally hated the way Kodachrome
looked. I used Ektachrome at the time. Watch it with the Maxxums as that is
my second system. If you want a good side trip, go over to the Caverns of
Sonora. This is one of the best caves in this area, and I have photographed
nearly all the ones open to the public. Some consider it one of the best
anywhere.
