The latest edition of Olympus User (UK) contains a brief article on the
lenses and films used by wildlife photographers. The author has carried out
a study of the 152 main pictures selected worldwide to be in the Wildlife
Photographer of the Year, Portfolio Seven. The most used longer focal
lengths break down as follows:

300mm - 27
500mm - 18
600mm - 17
80-200mm - 8
400mm - 7
300mm + 1.4x - 6
35-350mm - 4
70-200mm - 4
70-210mm - 2
500mm + 1.4x - 1
180mm - 1
100-300mm - 1
800mm - 1

The films used break down as follows:

Fuji Velvia 50 - 73
Fuji Sensia 100 - 17
Fuji Provia 100 - 16
Kodachrome - 11
Fujichrome (other) - 9
Ektachrome (various) - 7
