Hmmmm....   well you definitely need a focussing rail as moving the camera
about hend held with flash is a definite art unless you have a cybernetic
arm and nail it to a post.

The zoom tube can be attached to a focussing rail, the movement of the tube
itself adjusts magnification factor rather than focus - although it will
affect depth of field....  The tube is an excellent device for use
outdoors, however you do need a focussing rail and a good tripod.

The best macro shots I have were taken with a 100mm Pentax screw thread
lens on a set of lightweight bellows.  Who said that?
