I think the $7763 might be a bit of an exageration. I have seen a
store on the net advertising a price of $4269 - perhaps they are very
generous and sell it for no profit? 8-)

Is it worth it? to a pro I would say yes - the $4k not the $7k. I
have to say that mine produces images unlike any of my other lenses.
The closest to it - specification wise - would be the 135mm f2.8. I
have no complaints about this lens, it is a fine little performer but
the 180mm f2 just blows it away. Apart from being as sharp, possibly
sharper than the Zuiko 90mm f2, there is a 'flavour' 'bokeh' to
images it produces that is just not matched by any of my other
lenses.

It IS worth every penny of the $2000 someone just paid for one.
Think of it this way, That sort of money might get you a high end
computer with all the bells and whistles. In 5 years or sooner it
would be nearly worthless. A 180mm f2 will most likely retain it's
value ($2000) or appreciate.
