I have two Winder 2. One of them is fairly old but it has not seen
heavy use (I like my cameras light). Now this winter it would not
function in sub-freezing temperatures. 'So what?' you ask. Well,
that's a big problem in Sweden.
Of course it worked just fine indoors. And yes, I use NiCads which
work better in cold weather than alkalines, and they have worked
OK previously. Mind you, this is not the Antarctic. And battery
temperature had nothing to do with it, for when I put the camera
outside, then took it in and put in a holder of warm batteries, it would
not function. It is not a matter of frozen lubricants either, for the
thing was completely dead -- no sign of life, as if a connection had been
broken. Then, half an hour later, it worked again without a hitch on
my 4 Ti.
Comments, explanations and remedies, anybody?
