OK, reality check here folks... As serious as the OM-2S battery drain
problem is, it hardly compares to the battery eating characteristics of any
newly designed camera released in the last five years. And not only that,
but the batteries for the 2S are CHEAP! I don't have to stuff $12 worth of
lithium batteries in it every dozen rolls. (if I'm lucky)

Sure, I can get a couple years out of the batteries in an OM-1 or OM-2
wheras the OM-2S requires them a couple times a year (unless I'm doing scads
of flash work). The batteries in my IS cameras need changing so frequently
that I've had to budget for them.

Carry a couple extra packages of batteries (they are small and light) with
you along with a coin and don't worry about it. If they die in a shoot, so
what. I always check them/replace them immediately before a critical moment
(wedding processional) to make sure--as I also load a fresh roll in too.
Takes about the same time as changing film too.

That all said, I did have John upgrade the electronics in my 2S because I am
doing enough wedding work now that shutting off my flash is becoming a real
pain in the rumpoid.
