A-TTL is alive and well on all current (and AFIK past) Canon EOS cameras. I
don't know about spot A-TTL. I will have to see if I can find any
information on this. I use A-TTL all the time with my EOS models, and it is
slick. It meters a weak test flash through the lens. As it also balances the
main subject with the background, it probabably does not spot meter. It is
probably using the more advanced matrix meter.
