Yes, i agree.  Zuiko 300 + 1.4 is excellent.

I almost bought a used Zuiko 500 F/8 about a year ago. Local store had one
for $295, which seemed like a reasonable price.  I didn't though and the
biggest reason was my experience with another mirror lens.  A Cambron 500
F/8.  It was a piece of .... well let's just call it the droppings of a Mad
cow.
