If I had this kind of varience from a professional system like the F4, I
would be hopping mad.  There is absolutely no excuse for the entire
production of the F4 to vary more than a half-stop.  Even all of my OM's and
photo meters are within a half-stop and they span 25 years.

I suspect that John Shaws' evaluation methods are less than perfect.  If he
is happy, more power to him, but I think they are less than purely
scientific.  In his books he described setting your meters to a neutral
scene that was completely variable.  Oh, well.  He has sold many more
pictures than me--what do I know.
