A hoax is also a virus, with a primary, secondary and tertiary stage. The
medium is not cytoplasm as a real virus or memory cells of a computer but the
gray matter of a computer user. The primary phase is dissemination through
the Net. The second phase is the spread of the message to the computer of the
user. And the tertiary phase is the infection of the user's brain. It works
by stimulating the fear cells of the user causing certain specified behavior.
Usually the user is forced (not by his/her choice of course) to forward this
virus/hoax to all of his friends.
Virus protection is simple. The user is innoculated with the idea that there
is no real virus.
This is just an idea ... If you don't want to be infected, think of "pink
elephants."
