Thanks to all who responded to my question on the wisdom of purchasing a
camera in need of major repairs even if it appears to be a bargain.  Pretty
much the universal answer was "don't do it", there is just too much risk in
the unknown problems.  Thanks again, I'm sure you saved me from a major
headache.
