I have read an essay in Pop. Photo, it mentioned that the matte screen will
give you the most accurate focus. The split and microprism is similar to
the CCD phase sensor in AF camera, they possess certain degrees of errors,
cannot achieve very accurate focus. I also found the same, I only use split
for wide angle lens. For 50mm or more, I always use matte area for
focusing. It is very fast and accurate.
