The 200 macro is a great idea. There is a lack of that focal legnth in the
macro
group. It should not be a bellows lens, but one that can focus to infinity

Tomoko, are you listening???

I've been listening, but let me point out to you two things:

1) The 200 macro has been included along with other new lenses in the
petition!
Look at http://www.charm.net/~tomokoy/newlens.html

2) As far as asking Olympus to make this or other new lens as a
commemorative is concerned, I don't think it is possible for Olympus to do
it in time for their anniversary year unless a particular lens is already in
the pipeline.

If any of you want to read the entire petition before suggesting any "new"
ideas, please let me know. I can send you copies of all the html files as
attachments.

I grant that some of the sections have not been discussed as well as others.
The OM-5 wish list has been beaten to death, while the new lens
possibilities, the OM-1/2 improvements and the budget model have gotten
little attention. I have a feeling that some people did not believe me when
I said I would be sending our petition to Olympus Japan.....

What I had in mind when I mentioned the possible 80th anniversary
commemorative, I think that Olympus has a motivation to introduce something
to commemorate next year and that we would not be surprised to see an
anniversary special edition of something. We wish that the special issue
might be in the OM system, but Olympus may choose otherwise. We know that
the Olympus Pen is currently very popular in the used market in Japan and
that somebody asked Olympus if they were aware of it. However, the Olympus
Pen did not do well in the US. Perhaps Oly may choose to sell any
commemorative issue only in Japan.

A reissue has more of a chance in limited time, but again I realize that it
would take time to bring a revised product to the market if we ask for any
improvements on a reissue.
