Leitz say don't use them unless there's a definite need for them. But I
must say that a clear UV of top notch quality does not degrade lens
performance enough to notice, especially not against the background
of human error in focusing, holding, squeezing etc. And it may well
save your front element one day.

Color and correction filters are a different matter of course. And
second rate filters, certainly. Use Olympus, Hoya or B+W.
