Everything I've learned from my Kodak Tech Rep dad says otherwise. Removing
the film from the can while it is frozen is inviting condensation within the
film cartridge and ultimately, damage to the film..  It  can be removed from
the box, but it should be left in the can until thawed (perhaps a full hour
to reach room temperature).
