Hi folks:

Thanks to all who have visited my astronomy and telescope review website. One
issue has come up, that I cannot resolve, regarding the status of the OM2's
battery.

You do not NEED the battery to operate on "B." This much is clear.

BUT...if you leave the selector switch to "off," and release the shutter, the
built-in exposure meter is automatically activated. It illuminates the film
with an infrared light during the exposure if the battery is installed. This
stops after 1/30 second or so, but it can be enough to fog astrophotographs.

No information is provided as to whether this also happens on "B." Can
someone
illuminate me on this?

I'm confused about the comment concerning the exposure meter fogging the film
with infrared light. I've never heard anything like this about the Oly OTF
metering. Does it really do this? If so, do any of the other OMs do it as
well?

This guy's web site is interesting reading for the astrophotographer, too. And
he makes some interesting comments about Olympus equipment as well...
