In the States one such product is Goo Gone, by Magic American Corp.,
Cleveland OH 44122 (800) 321-6330. The label says "Biodegradable 100%
Organic Citrus Power" -- which tends to suggest to me that a manufacturer
must be able to get away with saying anything, since the warning box on the
back says "Contains petroleum distillates."  Which part of the 1000rganic
whole is not clear.

But works like a charm on many gooey gummy problems. But I've never used it
for cleaning up a camera.
