That, the losses on the OM auto focus line, plus the 1990 recession probably
explains the price spike on many OM lenses around 1990. Olympus dropped their
prices (in 1998 dollars) for awhile thereafter, but never seemed to recover to
pre-recession production levels and prices.
1986 to 1989 were the best years for buying OLY OM equipment new and used!
Alas, I had young kids and little disposable income.
