Makes you wonder if someone had decided to "lubricate" the rings to
make them work better!!!

Glad it worked out well for you.  I too was going to send my lens back to
the seller on Ebay if I couldn't get it working right.  It is a good feeling to
be able to fix small problems like this by one's self, isn't it?
