This is of course a personal matter. Some people can do a 20 mm group at 100
meters from prone, some can scarcely hit the paper! But in my case, this
technique gives me about two extra stops. A 50 mm which I would hesitate to
use at a slower speed than 1/60 th offhand can (with lots of concentration of
course, and s-q-u-e-e-z-e that button!) be used at 1/15th.

It does not work from prone because of the geometry (the camera is shorter
than a rifle). It is OK both standing, kneeling and sitting, but the same
length of strap may not work in all positions. When kneeling or sitting, do
not forget to use your knees! Also, when standing, a tree or a rock behind
your back is a great help.

And in the field, do not forget your backpack. Take a look at the vignette
at my personal home page (url below, plus /home/). That shot with myself
in the picture was taken when I was alone on the trail. The camera was
bedded down on top of my pack (unworkable with an OM-3 of course!).
