Olympians-
Today was a very special day. It was 'Tamron's great zoo day'. Yup! the major
zoos all across this great U.S. of A had professional photographers and
Tamron agents to give photo pointers, run photo contests of zoo animals -
winning, you guessed it, Tamron lenses. They even let all who entered use an
assortment of Tamron lenses for FREE. All photographs had to be taken by
Tamron lenses to count for the contest.

Well my 15 year old son and I decided to 'bond' and so
went to the Franklin Park Zoo in Boston - must have been one of the truly
great zoos - because the Tamron organization was there at a special booth -
perhaps 8 or 10 reps.

My son had his OM10 with his zuiko 75-150/f4 zoom and a 24/f2.8 (which he
loves) in his pocket.

I had my OM4T, winder, f280, 35-70/f3.6 zoom all ready set up - and a Tamrac
fanny pack with a few more goodies.

Well we signed up for the competition and they gave a brossure of photo
secrets - like 'keep the camera steady when you shoot' and 'consider depth of
field', etc.

Well we walked to the woman who was in charge of giving out the F Tamron
lenses (they brought about 50 or so) and she asked if we would like to try one
for free for the contest - "sure" says I. I just need an OM Mount- pause,
silence -
"you need what?" said she and I again said an OM mount for our Olympus
cameras. Well she had to get the supervisor. "Is that an autofocus or a
manual focus?" asked he. Manual. 'Oh we don't have any lenses to fit unless
you have a Nikon or ...........; but, you are free to read the 'photo hints'
and take a copy of any of the brossures and a map of the zoo.'

Hummmmmm. My son said 'dad they are clueless!'
Right you are son, and we walked up to the Leo the Lion's habitat (read
'cage') and got some great photo's.....
