I have know people who use hearing aids to save the little tape for these
batteries and if the aid is going to be unused for a while they replace the
tape to keep out the air and take out the  to prevent drain battery. I am
not sure whether it works, it seems like it might extend the life of the
battery between uses. Probably if the tape works there is no need to remove
the battery.
