Exactly my point in asking the question.
There is obviously a proper limit for shading the lens with a hood, or there
would not be so many hoods on the market.
I always wondered if the tulip shaped hoods were really any good at the
corners.  This is usually where the light flares from.
Of course a hood ( or a shade as I prefer) Is a valuable tool, but why the
emphasize
on the 85mm hood as opposed to the 100mm hood etc...?
By the way ...I use the finger in the corner method to test a shade.
