Go the 1n. The 2000 does not take any accessories other than some lenses.
Regarding the goo, I take it to a pro, so I'm not sure what happens, but I'm
 gooless.

That's part of the trade off.
Basically, the OM1 will take a motor winder.
The OM2000 gives you spot metering.
The OM1 has interchangeable focus screens.
The OM2000 has double exposure with no hassle.
Neither has TTL flash. OM1 has x or m sync. OM2000 has only hot shoe.
The OM2000 syncs at 1/125th; the OM1 at 1/60th.
The meter on the OM1 is a large lever to the left (from behind) of the
viewfinder. It stays on as long as you leave it on.
The meter on the OM2000 is switched by the wind lever. You must pull the
lever out in order to turn on the meter and in order to take the picture.
When the lever is against the body, the shutter will not fire.
OM1 has needle while OM2000 has 3 led's.
The OM2000 will never need foam replacement on the back since it has no foam.
OM1 has mirror lock up. OM2000 does not.
OM1 sets shutter speed (1 sec to 1/1000th) at the base of the lens; OM2000 is
on top like most other camera brands and runs from 1 sec to 1/2000th sec.
OM1: horizontal cloth shutter.
OM2000: vertical metal shutter.
The OM2000 has a window on the back to see what kind of film is in the camera.
The OM1 has a removable back and can take a 250 exposure back.
Both will take a screw in remote shutter release.
OM1 is slightly smaller; OM2000 slightly lighter.
Both have mechanical self timers: OM1 is released by a little lever above the
self winder lever; OM2000 is released by the shutter release button.
Both have metal lens mounts.
Rewind button on the OM1 is on the front of the camera. OM2000 is on the
bottom (like most other cameras).
OM1 uses 625 battery (no longer sold in USA).
OM2000 uses SR44 or 357 battery. The same as OM2, 3, 4.
The OM1 will wind with as many short strokes as you wish. The OM2000 takes
only one long stroke.
The fit and finish and the smooth operation make the OM1 an art form as much
as a camera.
The layout of controls makes the OM2000 a very easy camera to use for anyone
familiar with manual cameras (K1000, FM, etc).
So, do you prefer mirror lock up and interchangeable screens, or spot metering
and double exposure capability? (and higher flash sync and shutter speed).
Can't decide?
That's why I have both bodies, too.
Hope this helps
Ed
