There's the French fashion photographer Jean - Loup Sieff
who did scores of beauty layouts using only the 21mm & 28mm
on Leicas for magazines like Vogue and others. Not talking about head &
shoulder type imagery, but more like full-body and head & torso shots.
Don't try this at home with a sensitif model, but I mention it because
we often build creative barriers around "conventional wisdom", and
don't even realize it. The volumetric qualities of the 21 can be put to
great use with nudes/fashion shots. Experiment, experiment, experiment...
BTW, Mr. Sieff has a new big, coffee-table type book ( ever notice how
some of these cost much more than the average coffee table ?) out now. I
think I saw it at Borders. Full of wonderful, very humanistic pics, but
the wide-angle beauty shots are almost unique (Art Kane did some too with
a 24mm) and well-worth seeing.
