In a message dated 98-11-15 20:58:01 EST, you write:

 (otherwise will step-down rings work?)>>

I think Kiron makes (or probably made) these in 55 or 49 sizes. They also
make a "Reverse Mate" which includes not only the reversing ring but also a
bayonet (female) to put on the now exposed lens rear element with a do-hickey
so you can stop the lens down. See http://www.wallstreetcamera.com/cgi-
bin/wsc-search.cgi They seem to have several at $15.

<<Is there a good (cheaper) alternative to the Olympus auto tubes? The prices
seem to be insanely high for what they are (no glass, just empty tubes). I
have a set of OM non-auto tubes, but auto diaphram would be nice. Also is
the extention on the auto tube helical?

I have a no-name set of automatic tubes that work fine. Just keep on looking.
If you're talking about an automatic helical extension tube, that's another
type of animal. This extends from 65 to 116 mm and is meant to be used with
the 80mm or 135mm macro lens although other lens can be used. Right now these
are moderately rare and command prices a couple of notches higher than
extension tubes.
