I actually read the whole thing!  Lots of good info.  Just a couple of

I wasn't aware that Nikon had a 24 shift lens. I thought 28 was their
widest.
Canon, OTOH, has the 24 TILT/Shift.  That's useful.

Gee, add an ED glass 35-180 lens and that sounds an aweful lot like the
IS-3!  <g>
