I did a little comparison of the Oly marco flashes a little while back using
the T-8, T-10, and T-28 twin. Nothing very scientific, but somewhat
interesting none the less. The results are posted at
http://www.webgenuity.com/om.htm

Denton Taylor also did a similar test using the internals of a railroad
watchas the subject. Terrific images - my violets should have been as well
done. I forget the URL and rummaging around Denton's website didn't turn
them up - perhaps he'll post the address again for you to compare.

Each flash has its own flavor, so what suits best is very dependent on the
subject and your interpretation of it. For field work of plants and small
animals, I'd got with the T-8. As ungainly as it appears, it handles quite
nicely. For flat work of non-reflective objects, and of the three will do
well. For reflective subjects, the T-10 with the cross pol filter is the
only real choice. If you want to control the light more for modelling
effects, the T-28 will work best, as it allows the use of the filters for
the T-32 unit for neutral density, diffusion or colors. But be careful, as
my T-28 images show, you can create some rather unwanted effects.
