Lee, you got my curiosity going here. At 10-12 power and 24-30 mm objective
diameter, the exit pupil is well below the 7mm recommended for astro
application. What is the intended primary purpose? For daytime viewing and
very compact, lightweight, I got my spouse a Pentax 8x24. Very small,
surprisingly bright and affordable, ~$US100. They were no comparison for
image brightness, clarity, etc. to the Nikon 8x56's I compared with side by
side. The Nikon pair was three times the price and at least 4 times the
weight, but wow! were they bright.

I guess it's a longwinded way of saying in the absence of knowing your
intentions, a recommendation is hard to formulate.

I'm thinking about getting a pair of binocs soon, and was wondering if
the Olympus binocs are a good choice. I've suffered through some pretty
bad binocs in the past, so I want to make a good choice this time. I
really can't afford a pair of Zeiss or Steiner, though! The specific
models that I am interested in are the 10x42, 12x24, and (perhaps)
12x50.
