Dave;

The OM handbook will not help. 

Check out Gary Reeses' tests he's recently done and the tests on R Lees
( think) page. 

Also, rule of thumb: "A lens will be at its' sharpest when stopped down
2 to 4 stops from wide open." So an f/2 lens could be expected to be
sharpes at f/4 and f/5.6 and f/8.
