Ok. If you want printable quality, your ONLY option now is the NIKON Coolscan
LS2000, not so much because of its resoltion, but because of its dynamic range
of 3.6 (able to see shadows better). It is currently the best now IMO, but I
coulnt afford one. I use the EPSON filmscan 200, and all the pics in my site
which has a link below are scanned using this slide scanner. As far as flat bed
scanners for slides, simply, forget it. max resolution (optical) is 600 DPI,
which means real bad slide scans.

PS. for under $1000, I would look at the EPson, HP, and minolta dimage dual.
