I pondered wheather to send this privately or to the list. The list won out
in the event more than one person can benefit from it.
In MS Outlook Express, select Tools - Options, then the Send tab. In both
the Mail sending format and the News sending format, select the Plain Text
radio button. Then for each, click the Setting button and select the
Uuencode radio button, and click OK. When both are finished, click Apply,
then OK.
For MS Outlook (a similar but different product) begin by selecting Tools -
Services. Select Internet mail, then click the Properties button.
Verify/select the General tab, and click on the Message Format button. Make
sure the "Use MIME when sending messages" checkbox is *NOT* selected. To be
doubly sure, click the Character Set button and verify/select US ASCII is
selected. Click the OK button four times on the way out.
This should make your email reader compatible with the UNIX world.
