The use of plastic as aperture ring is very well done by Olympus. Later
other non S Zuikos like the 35-105 or the latest 50 1:1,8 used also plastic
for this ring, or even for the whole turret design (35-70 1:3,5-4,5). One
of the earliest whole plastic lenses was the Angenieux 200mm 1:2,3, this
lens was the fastest 200mm lens when it was released. I think plastic is
not so bad as material, the main problem are screws in plastic. The non
plasitc aperture rings of Zuiko lenses are made out of aluminium, not
brass, the bayonets of the lenses are out of chromium plated brass.
