 None- it's incorrect.  The advent of good autofocus and well-spec'd compacts
 caused the decline in sales of manual focus 35mm systems.  There's no point
 berating Olympus for not investing large sums of money in a shrinking
 market.  With two pro-spec SLRs and a large range of lenses still on sale
 (and I refuse to speculate wildly about how long this will continue since it
 is pointless), I think they're doing pretty well. >>

On the other hand, put yourself in Nikon and Canon's shoes.  They have a huge
investment in design and manufacturing.  SLR sales are going down.  Digital is
breathing down their neck.  What corporate direction would you pick for them?
To continue R&D and develop more bodies and lens in the face of a declining
and shrinking market may be an unwise track to take.  Who knows?  We could be
discussing the same thing in 2020 on the Nikon list decrying Nikon's
withdrawal from the SLR market.
