That's true, I think there is no reasonable adapter M42-OM, if the lens
must be used from infinity, because auxiliary lenses will decrease the
optical power. For Canon FD you can still buy a hama adapter. If the M42
lens has the possibility to stop down to working aperture, it's a very
comfortable adapter, because the M42 lens with this adapter can be mounted
like a real FD lens. The Pentax M42-K adapter is more tricky, because the
film-bayonet distance is the same with M42 and Pentax K. So this adapter
fits into the K mount and the M42 lens has to be screwed each time it is
changed. My thought is, why not adding one mint Spotmatic to your
equipment, so you can use many of those cheap M42 gems, like the fisheye.
With the fisheye, you need no motor drive, flash or similar things.
