I shot a favorite desert landscape with these side by side. I used ISO 100
color slide film and reported the results here many months ago. They are
dead ringers for each other in performance. What I thought at the time was
film induced limits to the resolution of desert plants was really lens
induced limits. I shot the scene at all apertures. There was a lack of any
fine detail, although the contrast was there (except at maximum and minimum
apertures).

It is almost impossible to evaluate the performance of ones personal
collection of lenses unless they are compared to a benchmark lens (i.e., of
known high quality) and the test subject is the same with all possible
variables (e.g., type of film, level of lighting) held constant. In another
words, you just don't know what is "excellent" performance." Further, a test
subject should include both low contrast and high contrast details
throughout. A lens with high resolution and low contrast will render the
high contrast details fine, but the low contrast details will be mush, if
even detectable.
