Don't know about that.  I had an old soligar 75-260/macro that was pretty
respectable as long as you kept the focus set at infinity.

Now, my Tokina AT-X 35-70/2.8 is flat-fielded enough at 1/2 to lifesize
that I haven't bothered to buy a macro lens.  I'm using it on Vert, which
provides around 25mm of extension which gives me a variable magnification
of around 1:3 to 1:1.  Of course, at 1:1, the focus point is pretty close,
but most of my macro is half-lifesize anyway.
