I recall a recent comment about how excessive heat
may cause the lubricant to run.
That Kodak cabinet thing sounds safe so a flashlight should be fine.
BTW, I live in Florida and fungus gets on everything, whether it
gets some sun or not. Plenty of humidity and plenty of light.
You should see my lawn furniture! (maybe not).

>Hi!

I recently read that pointing your lens at the sun can do damage to the
lens. Is this true? Aren't lenses supposed to be optical instruments (they
don't work without light)? Is it the UV content of sunlight that does the
damage, or can damage be done with a household lightbulb or flashlight?

I ask because I read a while ago that you should give your lenses a good
shining (for 30min or so) with a flash light (or something of the sort)
every so often because fungus doesn't like light. I have been practicing
this for the last little while and was wondering if I've damaged my lenses
somehow.

Thanks in advance!
